The 'Boys are back

Wichita Falls should be in for an undetermined number of weeks of excitement this summer when the Dallas Cowboys hold their fourth summer training camp at Midwestern State University.
The five-time Super Bowl champions held their training camp in Austin for eight years before 1998, but were lured to Wichita Falls through an effort headed up by MSU's Dr. Howard Ferrell. Even though the team was rumored to be exploring a South Texas site for this year's camp, when all was decided, Wichita Falls was again the choice.
Although final schedules are still being worked out, the camp is expected to start some time in mid-July.
There will be two-a-day practices most days of camp in the morning and in the afternoon.
Practices are free to the public.
MSU is expecting upwards of 2,000 people on campus each day to watch practice. There will also be hordes of news media from all over the country covering the Cowboys training camp.
As it has been the past two years, the camp should be an economic boom for the city. Hotels typically are filled throughout the four weeks of camp, and restaurants in the MSU area report brisk business.
Jones originally only made a one-year deal to have the training camp in Wichita Falls, but the city and MSU impressed the team enough to keep them coming back for an expected fourth year.
